The day after my 40th birthday in 2023 I quit my job and set up Simba Talent, named after my rescue Border Collie. Still trying to work out if it was a mid life crisis, or something else, but I am enjoying the show so far. I am a "late changer" to recruitment, having started out on the oil rigs for a decade before moving into recruitment. I found myself naturally falling into O&G rec, but pivoted more into the Tech space when I set up my own business. At the minute I am working alone. I have explored the option of bringing others in but I am keen to build up reputation and stability first. I enjoy the freedom of being able to do dedicated searches without the concerns of corporate structures distracting me from the recruitment itself.
